Thakral was established in 1905 and today the group is one of the largest home-grown conglomerate with offices in 30 countries with
headquarters in Singapore. The group employ more than 10,000 people worldwide. The group has diversified business activities ranging
from manufacturing, trading and distribution, software development, real estate development and hotel ownership business. The product
portfolio includes textiles, electronics, computers, timepieces among others.
Thakral Group has two listed entities and one private owned company.
Ranked as Singapore's Most Enterprising Privately Owned Company in 1995 by Arthur Andersen and The Business Times,
Thakral Brothers was started in 1952 as a partnership in textile trading. It was converted into a private limited company in 1973 and
played a major role in the Thakral Group's diversification from textiles into consumer electronics.
The company's core businesses are in three broad areas - trading, contract manufacturing and Information Technology. In trading,
Thakral Brothers carries more than 15 brands of audio-visual, telecommunication and household electrical products, mainly sourced
from Japan and sold predominantly in the CIS, East European and Middle Eastern countries, Africa and Indo-China.The Group has
also moved into contract manufacturing for products ranging from consumer electronics to high-end telecommunication equipment.
Its TIMEPIECE division represents various watches brand and luxury brands in Indo-China.
